The "va va voom" button!

The competitive environment of the automotive segment calls for extreme measures in terms of advertising: since it's not always possible to compete on a technical\quality level, the communication mostly revolves around sending an emotional message instead of a purely rational one
A nice example of this choice taken to the extreme is the following video for Renault Clio, where the subtlety of the "emotional" message is discarded in favour of a more explicit "va-va-voom" to demonstrate...well, basically nothing other than "va-va-voom", which can be translated to "generic emotional message"
Still, the complete absence of anything resembling rational value and the whole spectacle created for the AD (being it true or not) grants it a place on the blog

One last tidbit of info: As always in this pseudo-viral videos, the choice of the exact preview frame, is NEVER casual...

...as you can see by the second video, aimed to a different audience but a similar frame! www.tips-fb.com

Sex Mktg Archives - Invisibile AD

Lynx pursues brand awareness by...hiding his ADs in plain sight - it might seem a paradox, but as the video shows, a bunch of people looking at "nothing" can generat definitely more buzz than a couple of persons looking at a billboard!

The sprite shower

Not really a "sex marketing" article, but the sheer coolness of the initiative and the fact that is happening in a brazilian beach full of swimsuits, justify the presence of this video on this blog

The idea doesn't even need an explanation - it's "just" a giant Sprite shower in the form of a dispenser!

This is certainly not a marketing campaign for everybody's pockets, but for an already known brand as Sprite it's the perfect way to promote awareness!

Exxxtreme bunjee jumping

This photo talks by itself....certainly not an ambient/experience marketing possibile for any brand, but when it happens, it's definitely remembered (and talked about...and tried...and twitted...and so on)
It's curios how even on such a majestic and purely "offline" piece of communication, the small but fundamental Facebook logo still managed to appear! www.tips-fb.com

Living billboard - Man up!

Another cool example of animated billboard - if a man is supposed to be A MAN, what better way to express this than showing the difference in chest hair?

Chill is actually a coffee brand, who spoofs the perfume-guy stereotipe with a billboard that shows a guy with and withour chest hair, with the payoff "MAN UP"
This kind of humorous and well realized animation, placed on an otherwise banal media stereotype is a guaranteed attention getter, but that's not all: by starting from a "safe" spot, this campaigns fully embraces the first principle of unconventional marketing, taking the customer by surprise when his defences ave been lowered by something familiar - kudos, Chill!

AXE Strip Toilette

"El dia del novio" is the equivalent of the European and American "St. Valentines Day", where couples celebrates...being a couple, usually by going our for dinner to start up the night.

But this hilarious campaign thinks differently: it thinks that "el dia del novio" is the one day in which you realize you want to be with ALL women: so what can AXE do for you?
THIS.
Controversial. Fun. Potentially viral. This campaign has it all, even if the guys who took part in it are probably now wandering the earth alone, but still...best event marketing campaign ever, well done AXE!

Say no to fur - Gillette

Here's an aggressive merchandising campaign from Gillette: its "summer initiative" is meant to be a reminder of the...excess fur that more often than not shows up in some..."key areas".

And what better way to highlight these areas than creating a towel with some strategic holes?
A campaign which will surely work as a reminder, and at the same time, create a good amount of buzz in all the places were the initative took place - and from there, obviously...the web.

Aubade lingerie - public fantasy

A new take of the already unconventioal "teasing" marketing strategy - a genious agency broght everyman fantasy into the streets of Paris with a perfect mixture of ambient marketing (using the "world" as a media) and OutOfPlace marketing (temporary and unexpected installations).

4 times a day, from a crowded shopping street, it's possible to admire a young lady silhouette dancing and teasing the strangers from behind the curtains - but what for?

...obviously, to gain low cost attention (and media exposure)...until the time when the curtains are pulled and the website is revealed, in front of an entertained crowd - word of mouth and buzz are sure to follow! www.tips-fb.com

A different kind of 3D advertising

An ambient marketing campaign that "breaks" the notorious fourth wall ...literally. Wonderbra continues to use 3D (in a certain way!) to get noticed, cleverly putting this funny piece of AD in tipical waiting places: bus stops!

3D bra marketing

Incredibly cool and well orchestrated marketing strategy - a conventional medium, a billboard, is turned into a sort of event when Wonderbra decides to realize the first 3D billboard of the world!

The idea would be enough to generate some genuine buzz around the brand (and to catch the viewer attention), but Wonderbra went further, thanks to a give away initiative were bra-shaped 3D glasses were actually given to the people - unconventional gadgeting meets unconventional advertising!

By the way, the idea was quickly copied by other media: many magazines are in fact starting to insert 3D publicities and covers in their publication...by giving at the sime time free 3D glasses (...branded 3D glasses of course) www.tips-fb.com

Flapping skirts advertising

Here's an ambient marketing installment that is at the same time clever, simple, eye-catching and, most importantly, cost-effective
From Bustop Lingerie
The woman's skirt is actually real fabric sawn on the poster and it moves with the wind a là Marylin - and yes, the "look your best" payoff IS a cheap but funny play on words! www.tips-fb.com

Pole Marketing!

Honestly, I couldn't find out exactly what this fine example of ambient marketing was trying to publicize - I'll just presume it's a night club and go on.
As the name suggest, an ambient marketing operation is a campaign that uses already existing ordinary infrastructures and interwines them with something unexpected to convey a message.
The ordinary object is immediately noticed since it's in a completely different contest - the best ambient marketing campaigns (like this one, even if I have no idea what it's promoting) also try to be coherent with the ambient to create a sort of "fourth wall" effect! www.tips-fb.com

That was VERY stimulant - Durex Play O

Interesting ambient marketing campaign from the master of sex-related advertising: Durex!
At last year S-EXPO (a fair with a quite explicit theme) when every brand used the same old tired formula of conventional stands and image girls to promote their new products, Durex chose to create an original installation: a bedroom that was totally destroyed after someone had sex in there using Durex Play-O, a stimulant gel.

The results?
Behold the power of the female orgasm!

"Big" ambient marketing campaign for a TV series

"HUNG" is an HBO tv series about the oldest job on earth, with the twist of a male protagonist - a "gifted" man who has to resort to improvise a male prostituion career.
How gifted is he? You can guess by looking at this clever ambient marketing installations...
